The iPhone can soon replace the standard stethoscope, if an App is to be believed. A University College London researcher has developed a free application for iPhone users called the ‘iStethoscope’ which will be able to monitor heartbeats through sensors. More than 3 million doctors from all over the world have already signed up to gain access to this new application.
The iPhone’s popularity in India may not be as high as in Western countries, but it wouldn’t be wrong to say that it has its own loyal base. With word out about this App, the Indian medical community is pretty excited. With more and more people opting for Smartphones because of their feature-rich and high sensory qualities, this iPhone App can be very popular.
Though the iStethoscope has been developed as a “fun thing”, it is making the medical community realize that the day of people doing their own ultrasounds and blood pressure tests with their Smartphones may not be too far away.
