T-series T20 Review

T-series mobile company has launched T20, a basic mobile model which is within the reach of even common people. The mobile looks sleek and trendy with its 105.5 X 44.6 X 5.5 mm dimensions. The phone has Dual SIM facility which has an operating frequency of GSM 900 / 1800 MHz. The phone has a display screen of 1.8 inches with a screen resolution of 128X160 pixels. The display is of LCD type which can exhibit up to 262K Colors.

One can stay connected to their friends with the help of messaging. The mode of messaging is through SMS only, unlike other T-series mobiles like T 200 which has MMS facility also.  The inbox of the phone can store up to a maximum of 50 messages. The impressive feature of this phone is its audio features. T20 has an audio player with loud speaker which can produce rocking music. In order to enhance the music option, the phone has a memory which can be expanded up to 2GB.The handset also has FM radio with FM recording and is equipped with a receiver for the same purpose.

The battery used in T20 is of Li-Ion 1400mAh. The stand by time is up to 9-10 days and the talk time comes up to 5-7 hours. Apart from the regular features, the phone also has handy features like calendar, alarm, calculator, and wall paper or screen saver facility. The phone lacks camera, MMS and Bluetooth but besides these it performs as a basic communication device.

Motorola Ming A1680 Review

Motorola Developer Network, Motodev has developed Motorola Ming A1680, the first of its kind in Ming series. The phone looks amazing with transparent clam shell factor form flip. The mobile has advanced Android v1.6 operating software with very impressive features. A1680 has a large display screen of 3.1 inches with a screen resolution of 480 x 800 (WVGA), which enables the user to have a crystal clear display. More over the screen has touch sensitive AMOLED display and has features where the user can give input to the phone in his/her own handwriting.

Ming A1680 has fantastic power full camera of 5 MP with auto focus, 4X zoom option with an image resolution of 2592 x 1944. In order to record and watch one’s favorite videos, a video player is provided which can be supported by formats like MPEG-4 (H.263 and AMR). Coming to its audio features the phone has FM radio with speakers and can also accept music of AAC, AMR, MP3 and MP4 formats which means lots and lots of music and fun. A special mention has to be made about the memory card of the phone which is FAT32, micro SDHC of Class 6, which can be expanded up to 32GB. Data transfer and connectivity is enabled through Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR version and USB port of Micro USB 2.0 High Speed.

Accelerometer sensor and magnetometer sensor, Android web kit browser, GPS etc. The phone is much accredited for its stylish body and advanced software features.

Samsung Omina Lite Review

Samsung has launched yet another model in its Omnia series.  This candy bar mobile is a higher end mobile supported by 3G network mode with an operating frequency of GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, HSDPA 900 / 2100 at 3.6 Mbps. The phone has cool dimensions of 107 X 51.8 X 13.2 mm weighing 109 grams. The phone has smaller display of 3.0 inches when compared to Samsung Omnia II which has display of 3.7 inches. The screen resolution if of 240X400 pixels and has ultra swift touch screen.  

Omnia Lite has exciting music player supported by multiple music formats like WAV, MP3, AAC, AAC+, EAAC+, AMR, WMA, MIDI, MMF. The phone can easily locate hundreds of songs with the help of music library facility. The phone also features FM radio with FM recording and RDS. Lite is also equipped a video player to record and watch videos supported by advanced formats like H.263, H.264 Baseline, MPEG4, 3GP, 3G2, WMV, Divx, Xvid. In order to capture cool pictures, the handset come equipped with 3.0 MP camera with LED Flash and Auto focus. The image resolution offered is 2048.0 X 1536.0 Pixels. The camera feature is less advanced in comparison to Omnia II and Omnia ProB7320.

Data transfer and connectivity is enabled through Bluetooth of V2.1 with A2DP, USB of V2.0, Micro USB, EDGE and GPRS of class 10 and wire less protocol of Wi-Fi 802.11 B/g, DLNA. The phone has a memory expandable up to 32 GB. The battery used is li-ion1500mAh with a stand by time of up to 10 Hours and talk time of up to 300 Hours. The success of Omnia Lite can be accredited due to its Soft ware Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional which can be Upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5.

Motorola Milestone XT720 Review

Motorola Mile stone XT720 is another breakthrough in the field of mobile phone technology. The mobile is equipped with the most sophisticated features and advanced technology. Videocon introduces Unlimited GPRS Plans

Videocon Mobile Service, one of the latest entrants into the telecom industry has introduced 2 new unlimited GPRS plans in India. The offer is called “Truly Unlimited Mobile Internet”, and is different from the already existing Rs 96 Unlimited Internet offer. It is aimed at the youth of the country, who want low – priced internet offers to meet their social networking demands. The two different plans have been introduced at two price points to provide subscribers the chance to choose.

In Mumbai, the “Truly Unlimited Mobile Internet” packs have been priced at Rs 13 and Rs 225. The Rs13 pack can be used without any limit on fair usage for 3 days while the Rs 225 pack can be used without any limit on fair usage for 90 days. In Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Kerala and Haryana, the packs are priced at Rs 13 and Rs 251 respectively.

Videocon introduces 3 Minutes Plan and New ISD Pack

Videocon Mobile Services, one of the growing telecom service providers in India has introduced two new tariff vouchers that allow cheap local, STD and ISD calls.

The 3 Minutes Plan will offer Videocon subscribers the chance to enjoy 180 seconds (3 minutes) pulse for every call, be it local or STD. The tariff voucher is priced at Rs 24 and with this, all local and STD calls will be charged at Rs 1/ 3 minutes. The voucher has a talk value of Rs 10 and is valid for 30 days. The new ISD Pack will offer Videocon subscribers the chance to make unlimited calls to USA and Canada for as low as 1p/ sec. The voucher is priced at Rs 57 and has a validity of 30 days. Nokia introduces Dual – SIM handset C1 and C2 in India

On Monday, Nokia announced the introduction of its dual – SIM handsets in India. This is the first foray of the Finnish mobile phone giant in the lucrative dual – SIM market in the country.

The two dual – SIM phones are called the C1 and C2 and are targeted at the price –conscious public. The Nokia C1 is priced at Rs 1999 and comes with basic features like an FM radio, call divert facility and flashlight. The phone is meant for only SMS and calls. The Nokia C2 comes with the Ovi Mail and Ovi Life Tools. It also has a music player and micro – SD card support up to 32 GB.

With these two new phones, Nokia plans to grab a share of the market that had till now players like Samsung, LG, Micromax, Karbonn, Zen and Spice. The Indian – produced mobile handsets especially have gained a lot of the market share by offering innovative features and rock – bottom prices.

Government wants Google, VPN and Skype to give access to law enforcement agencies

The ongoing battle with Blackberry has prompted the government to issue notices to search engine Google, service provider VPN (Virtual Private Network) and internet phone call provider Skype to provide access to law enforcement agencies, as and when required. It will also issue notices to certain other entities as well. All of the entities will be asked to follow the directive or stop their services in the country.  An official in the government said that this step has been taken in view of the increasing security concerns the country is facing.

Google and Skype, entities which have quite a base in India, come with security concerns over the messaging and voice calling facility they provide. The data that travels through Google, VPN and Skype also pose security concerns as they are not accessible to law enforcement agencies. The government plans to crackdown on all the companies that do not allow easy access to their data, once and for all.

Nokia Will set up its Enterprise Server in India by 5th November,2010

Nokia has recently stated on Monday that in order to adhere to the security concerns of the government it will set up its enterprise server in India by November this year. The Managing Director of Nokia, India, D Shivakumar stated that “We are launching the server on November 5 in compliance with all the rules and regulation in the country…It is for hosting mail and ensuring that the government has access (to the data).”

In order to address the security concerns of the country, greater access to mobile as well as online communication has been demanded by the Indian government. This latest decisions to set up its messaging server in India has been taken by Nokia for the same reason. Earlier in the year 2009, Nokia had launched the beta version of the messaging services which allows the users to get access to 10 email accounts during the move.

 

Blackberry Not be banned in India, RIM gets ready to provide access to Indian Security Agencies

After much speculation and uncertainties, there is good news for all the Blackberry users in India, as Research In Motion has finally agreed to provide the access to the Indian Security Agencies so that they can monitor the services of Blackberry.

This decision has come just a day before the deadline which was assigned to RIM for providing the solution to the security issues of the Blackberry in India. The Indian Government had earlier given a deadline of 31st August 2010 to RIM for providing the access to its security agencies for monitoring the email and messenger services of Blackberry failing to which the services of Blackberry would have been banned in India.

Now since RIM has agreed to the requirements of the government the Blackberry services will continue in India. The Blackberry makers, RIM has finally agreed to set up a proxy server in India so that the encrypted corporate emails can be monitored by the country.

On 30th August 2010, the Home Ministry stated that “RIM have made certain proposals for lawful access by law enforcement agencies and these would be operationalised immediately.” The government also stated that the security issue related to the Blackberry will be reviewed by the home ministry within the time period of 60 days and during this time; DoT will submit its report.
